This may not be the way the BYU Cougars envisioned ending their run in the Mountain West Conference. BYU, who will leave the conference after Saturday's appearance in the New Mexico Bowl against the UTEP Miners from Conference USA, will follow their own path to independence and were hoping to leave the Mountain West Conference in a big way this season.
