In The Bleachers Podcast: Patrick Stevens Talks About Maryland’s Coaching Situation

Got a special bonus podcast today for all of you folks who can't get enough of the coaching hired, fired and retired situations out there. Patrick Stevens from the great Mid-Atlantic Region website D1scourse drops by to give us some real answers as to what is going on with the Terrapins. While most of us watched the presser with Athletic Director Kevin Anderson yesterday streaming our guy Patrick was in the building covering the action and has some unique insight into the Terps after covering the team for a number of years.

We get into why AD Anderson made the move to not retain Coach Friedgen, even after the coach went 8-4 and won ACC Coach of the Year honors. That means talking about how James Franklin's move to Vanderbilt put a fly in the ointment and the clear thought process that Maryland has no desire to move forward with the aging Ralph Friedgen.

Patrick and I also get into the Mike Leach situation where we discuss how the Pirate, who is everyone's favorite hire for some reason, would fit into College Park. Stevens drops some SAT words on ya like "iconoclastic" to describe the non-conformist Leach and we rehash all the coaching vacancies that are better than Texas Tech in recent years that Mike Leach didn't get for some reason. Mike Locksley, Maryland's best recruiter in recent history, gets some discussion as well.
