J.P. Dumont is enjoying a sudden resurgence as a goal scorer and leader on the ice for the Nashville Predators.

After scoring just 4 goals in his first 44 games of the season, Dumont has netted 5 in his last 2 games, including a hat trick in the Predators 5-2 victory against the Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday. He has also accumulated 7 assists on the season for a total of 16 points on the season.

Dumont’s hat trick was the fourth hat trick of his career, and his first in regulation since November 12, 2001. After having a strong offseason, Dumont came to camp in the best shape in years looking to have his best season. Despite his offseason effort, the first half of the season has seen Dumont struggle offensively and relegated to 3rd and 4th line duties.
