The Eagles and Cowboys were tied 20-20 in a game that was turning into a classic NFC East battle.
Although the Cowboys were 4-8 and virtually eliminated from postseason competition, the Eagles were 8-4 and in the thick of the division hunt. They desperately needed to win this game.
Kicker David Akers tied the game at 20 with a 50-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter. The Eagles’ defense held, giving them the ball back with 11 minutes remaining in the game.
