In the third round of the 1998 draft, the Philadelphia Eagles selected 6’1, 262-pound middle linebacker Jeremiah Trotter from Stephen F. Austin college.
Trotter became a starter before the 1999 season and led the team in tackles. He earned Pro Bowl selections in 2000 and 2001 but left the Eagles in a messy contract dispute after the 2001 season.
It was a dispute so messy that Phil Sheridan of The Philadelphia Inquirer wrote that “the Army Corps of Engineers couldn’t have fixed it.”
