Philadelphia Flyers defensemen Chris Pronger returned to the ice Friday for the first time since Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Boston Bruins in April.
Pronger laced up the skates and took shots at the Flyers Skate Zone practice facility in Voorhees, NJ. While a lot of Pronger’s teammates have been involved in pickup games and work outs together, Pronger skated by himself. He won’t be joining his Flyers teammates when training camp starts September 17th, but today was the first step to being ready for the October 6th season opener against the Boston Bruins.
It’s been a slow and frustrating off season of rehab for Pronger. Recovering from hand and back issues, Pronger has been medically cleared to ramp up his workouts. Pronger told reporters on Friday that his hand was fully recovered and is no longer an issue.
