Only one week stands between college football fans and the biggest regular season game in college football history.
That’s right, we are just days away from the colossal clash between #1 LSU and #2 Alabama in Tuscaloosa next Saturday night (8pm, CBS). CBS negotiated with ESPN for the SEC primetime slot that typically goes to the worldwide leader. In return, the Eye will give ESPN first shot one week next year (as CBS usually gets first dibs in SEC games). Additionally, rumors are that ESPN’s College Gameday will set up next Thursday in Tuscaloosa and be there through Saturday night. 3 days of coverage from the shadows of the Nick Saban and Bear Bryant statues. So hype will be plentiful once this weekend is in the books. I just hope the game itself is remotely close to the hype that is getting and will get over the next ten days.
But in the meantime we have some great matchups this weekend that merit taking a look at: The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, a huge Big XII clash in Manhattan, and a few nice ACC contests worth highlighting (upset special alert!).
I am now 23-8 after a perfect 4-0 week 8. I was almost spot-on in my Tennessee-Alabama pick predicting a 42-6 finish and the actual game ended up at 37-6. The Clemson-UNC and LSU-Auburn games were blowout city. Not even close. Hopefully this week’s picks bring about more competitive contests.
