The St. Louis Cardinals captured their 11th World Series Championship last night by defeating the Texas Rangers, 6-2, in Game 7. Considering everything that this team had to go through this season, this can be called one of the most unlikely world championships in Major League Baseball history.

But to do this team – and this article – justice, you have to go way past Game 6 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning.

This story dates back to February. While Chris Carpenter was outstanding for St. Louis throughout the entire postseason, Adam Wainwright was the ace of this staff. Before spring training even started, Wainwright was lost for teh entire 2011 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery....
