Tom Herman came to Iowa State three years ago when Paul Rhoads took over a 2-10 football team from the departed Gene Chizik. While the offensive numbers weren't dazzling, together he and Rhoads took Iowa State to bowl games in two of the past three seasons and led Iowa State to some program changing upsets.
