I wrote in my post on Monday that Viktor Stalberg was going to have to step up and provide some offense with Patrick Sharp missing the next month of the season.
Well I think he got the memo skating on the top line with Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane as he collected his first career hat trick in a 5-2 victory over the last place Blue Jackets.
Actually three of the guys I listed in the piece scored. Along with Stalberg, Dave Bolland chipped in his 10th of the year and recently recalled Ben Smith tallied his second. Bolland also assisted on Stalberg’s third goal which was an empty netter. Seven of Stalberg’s 11 goals have been scored against Columbus this season. Let’s hope Stalberg doesn’t have to wait till February 18th to score again because that is the next time the Hawks play the Blue Jackets.
