It appears that the Washington Nationals and third baseman Ryan Zimmerman are closing in on an agreement on an extension. Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post is reporting (via Twitter) that the last major hurdle to get by is some language on a no-trade clause. Zimmerman's agent, Brodie Van Wagenen, has left Viera, Florida without a deal being done.
The deadline to get a deal done is Saturday morning, which Zimmerman has set as a deadline to work out a deal. If an extension is not signed by the time spring training opens to the full team, Zimmerman will enforce his decision to table the discussions until the end of the season.
