Could free agent QB Peyton Manning actually be heading to the San Francisco 49ers next season? If Manning isn’t the quarterback for the Niners next season, if Alex Smith lines up under center for the franchise, he’s going to get a lot of new weapons. The 49ers have already inked veteran receiver Randy Moss and according to PFT.com tonight, San Francisco could be adding WR Mario Manningham.
The San Francisco were one game away from reaching the Super Bowl last season with Alex Smith under center. The Niners also lacked a serious deep passing game. The addition of Manningham and a reported, invigorated WR Randy Moss along with Michael Crabtree, creates a very lethal threat downfield with a quarterback which can work the field. Add in TE Vernon Davis, along with a solid running game, the San Francisco offense could be deadly in the right hands.
