In what has to be the second strangest move this free agency period involving the Denver Broncos and a quarterback, it was announced this evening that Denver has agreed to terms with QB Caleb Hanie to become the backup for veteran Peyton Manning in 2012. This move is just about as bizarre as Tim Tebow heading to the New York Jets.
Caleb Hanie took over for the Chicago Bears in the their last four games of the regular season after Jay Cutler went down with injury, and was totally ineffective. Hanie is the polar opposite of Manning as a a quarterback. In the final four games last season, Hanie tossed just three touchdowns against nine interceptions as the Chicago Bears struggled to find a playoff spot.
