WR Chad Ochocinco takes a pay cut to remain with New England Patriots

Yesterday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter filed a report suggesting that WR Chad Ochocinco was going to remain with the New England Patriots in the 2012 season, today, perhaps we have learned why the veteran pass catcher might remain on the roster next season. Adam Schefter reports that Chad Ochocinco has agreed to a pay cut for 2012 in order to facilitate his retention by the Patriots in 2012.

Schefter reports on Twitter that Ochocinco has agreed to restructure his contract, from a $3 million dollar salary down to just $1 million for 2012. According to Schefter via Twitter, “Patriots WR Chad Ochocinco restructured his contract for the coming season, lowering base salary from $3 million to $1 million. Back to NE.”
