NFL hands out compensatory draft picks

NFL hands out compensatory draft picks

Hyped by on March 27, 2012 Website: www.thepigskinreport.com

The NFL announced on Monday the clubs which would be receiving compensatory draft picks in next month’s upcoming NFL draft. 32 picks were awarded on Monday with the vast majority of them being awarded in the seventh round. The NFL awards compensatory picks to clubs which lose more compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous season. Not every free agent lost is covered by the formula which determines compensatory selections. Salary, playing time and post season honors received by the player all factor into the formula.

This season, eight teams received multiple compensatory selections with the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and the Green Bay Packers all receiving four additional selection. Perhaps no team benefited from the addition of compensatory selections than the Oakland Raiders.
