After former head coach Bill Parcells declined to take the New Orleans Saints head coaching job for the 2012 season, the franchise has handed the interim head coaching job to assistant head coach Joe Vitt. Vitt will oversee head coaching duties for the Saints this offseason but the team will still need to find someone to assume head coaching duties for the start of the regular season as Vitt has to serve a six game suspension this year for his involvement in the Bounty-gate scandal.
In a statement released on the Saints official website, general manager Mickely Loomis said, “We will work through the offseason under this plan and when we get to training camp we will decide on a course of action for the first six weeks of the regular season.”
