The New England Patriots, never a team to shy away from a veteran player are reportedly kicking the tires on a couple of veteran running backs. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Patriots are visiting with veteran backs Tim Hightower as well as Ryan Grant. This comes as little surprise to me as the Patriots always pick an aging veteran from the later round of free agency and plug them into their offense.
Hightower is still rehabbing from his ACL injury sustained in Week Seven of the 2011 regular season. RB Ryan Grant is 29 and is a shell of the player he once was with the Green Bay Packers. However, the Patriots organization, one which has been very active with low-risk free agency signings this season might think about inking a deal with either one of these veteran rushers.
