The Indianapolis Colts will select Stanford Cardinal quarterback with the first pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. It has finally been made public knowledge, although it was always the worst kept secret in the entire league. They always planned on keeping the pick and using it to draft Luck. But the question now is whether or not the Colts will hold on to their second round pick at No. 34, or possibly move up a few spots in order to select a player with whom Luck is rather familiar.
The majority of mock drafts you read have the New York Giants drafting Stanford tight end Coby Fleener at No. 32, the final pick in the first round. With the Giants potentially losing Jake Ballard for all of the upcoming season, the team needs to give Eli Manning a big target across the middle of the field and in the end zone. Fleener could fit that bill.
But what if he is not on the board when the Giants pick? While other teams have not been rumored to be involved in discussions to draft Fleener, don’t believe for one minute that the Giants will automatically be able to draft him at No. 32. Especially if one team wants to trade up with another team notorious for trading down.
