Harrison Barnes graduated from high school the highest touted HS player in many years. The hype was unbelievable. Here is one scouts take at the time;
“It is hard to give a scouting report on such a complete player. I’ve heard comparisons between Harrison’s game and Kobe Bryant and, with a lot of reluctance, I have to agree. I don’t like comparing a high school player’s game to a polished NBA athlete, and in my opinion the best in the game right now, but the likenesses are definitely present. He has a deadly accurate mid-range pull up and range out beyond the arc, which he uses to keep defenders honest. He can also score well in traffic, using nifty layup moves to get the ball on the glass. He’s not afraid to post up smaller defenders to gain the advantage. The most “Kobe-like” part of his game, in my opinion, is his high basketball IQ. When the ball is in his hands, you can see him dissecting the defense, finding its weaknesses, and preparing to exploit them. He has “one-and done” ability and will be a team changer wherever he ends up.”
