Coming off a 15-8 record in April and setting a career best 9-1 home record in 2012, the Tampa Bay Rays now have a new concern regarding 3B Evan Longoria. Longoria attempted to steal second base last night and slid into second base awkwardly, twisting his left knee. Longoria left the lineup after the third inning.
Rays officials told reporters after the victory over the Seattle Mariners last night that Longoria would undergo an MRI this afternoon in order to determine the extent of his knee injury. Rays manager Joe Maddon told reporters that currently Longoria is considered day-to-day, but there are fears that the third baseman might see an extended stint on the disabled list while dealing with this injury.
