Houston Texans part ways with WR Jacoby Jones

The Houston Texans, unable to find a trade partner for WR Jacoby Jones, released the receiver on Tuesday evening. The selection of WR/KR DeVier Posey from Ohio State University made Jones and his high salary expendable. Houston, according to various reports, tried to move Jones via trade during the third day of the NFL Draft but were obviously unable to find a trade partner will to take on his salary. The Houston Chronicle reported a trade rumor over the weekend which had the Cleveland Browns sending QB Colt McCoy to the Texans in exchange for Jones.

Jones only accounted for 512 receiving yards last season despite the team playing the majority of their games without WR Andre Johnson. Jones drew criticism from several Texans fans after dropping a first-quarter punt in the AFC Divisional playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens.
