The New York Yankees began a stretch of 16 games in 16 days last night with a 5-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. After being swept by the Baltimore Orioles last week, the Yankees went to Kansas City and showed signs of waking up while splitting a four game series with the Royals.
During that four game series in Kansas City, the Yankees got nice pitching performances by CC Sabathia and Phil Hughes. Hughes is the key here. If the Yankees can get Hughes on track, the team becomes that much stronger. Andy Pettitte is returning on Sunday when the Yankees battle the Seattle Mariners.
