I was going to start with the hyperbolic, “this could only have been worse if X and Y were involved”. Then I realized that I hate most of the Eastern Conference. The only teams that would not have bothered me had they made it this far were the Florida Panthers, Winnipeg Jets and in spite of my severing of emotional ties and rooting interest, the Buffalo Sabres. (I have too many loved ones who still follow them. I would love for my former stomping grounds and their bruised fan base to enjoy a win). Two of those three did not even make the postseason. The other was ushered out in the first round. A final where I could root for or at least not against the team from the Eastern Conference died weeks ago.
This series is not without its interesting points. These two teams hate each other almost as much as I do the both of them. There won’t be any needs for any late hit to cause those feelings of hatred that some times take a few games to fester into hate. It is already there.... (More)
