Again, no one in the league values running backs the way they had 10 and 20 years ago. In fact, they are the most replaceable skill position on the offensive side of the ball. It was absolutely dumbfounding to see the always awful Cleveland Browns spend their third overall pick (after an odd trade with the Minnesota Vikings) to grab Trent Richardson, who should certainly be a good football player. But you can’t build a player like that—not when you don’t have a quarterback or reliable receiver on your roster.
