It appears a college football playoff will be implemented in 2014. All the powerbrokers from the major conferences and the television executives are coalescing around a four-team playoff. The target date for a decision is June 26th.
The only significant issue now is how to determine who those four teams are. It’s not too difficult to figure out a plan as to where the games will be played. Have the traditional BCS sites rotate hosting the semifinals and the championship game. You could perhaps open up the bidding to other high-end non-BCS bowls, i.e. the Cotton and Capital One Bowls. Or you could have the higher seeded teams host the games.
But the major conferences are split on how to select the four playoff participants.
