The ball was flying out of Citizens Bank Park for the second consecutive day on a humid afternoon in Philadelphia, but the Phillies were able to salvage a game to the streaking Giants in the finale led by John Mayberry Jr.
[BOXSCORE]
Starting over Gregor Blanco for the third straight game, Nate Schierholtz led the Giants offensively. Coming into Sunday’s series’ finale, he had three hits in three at-bats against Joe Blanton. And his dominance against the former Athletic continued.
Just as everyone was getting cozy, Schierholtz blasted a solo home run on the third pitch of the game from Blanton.
Chase Utley matched Schierholtz in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI triple that Angel Pagan was unable to track down.
However, the headline were two fairly unknown names.
