With Alexander Semin now off the market signing a one-year deal worth $7 million with the Hurricanes and Shane Doan not even being mentioned by the Devils, the options for a forward are limited. Scanning the free agent pool there seem to be a lot of 30+ year old forwards like former Devil Jason Arnott (37) and former Ducks forward Jason Blake (38), or forwards that seem to always be injured like Kristian Huselius.
Speculation has the Devils possibly trading a defenseman which they seem to have a surplus of for a scoring forward. Or, option two would be to roll the dice on the 22 year old Swedish forward Mattias Tedenby.
The 2008 entry level draft saw the Devils take Tedenby as their first round selection (24th overall). During the hellish 2010-2011 campaign he was quickly promoted from Albany after 12 games and landed on the Devils roster. Playing in 58 games for the Devils Tedenby recorded 22 points (8G 14A).
