Joe Philbin has decided that going with a player who logged more games as a wide receiver than quarterback at Texas A&M is still better than any other option he has on his roster with the Miami Dolphins. That is why Philbin decided to make the official announcement that former Aggies signal caller will start the season as the Dolphins’ regular season week 1 starter against the Houston Texans on September 9.
It was long assumed that the Dolphins would groom Tannehill as the eventual successor to either Matt Moore or David Garrard after this season. He is still extremely raw when you consider his college experience.
But Tannehill has two things going in his favor, and it has been that way since Miami drafted him with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft this past April.
