It seems we have an answer to Frankie Edgar's next move. Edgar (14-3-1) is the former UFC Lightweight champion, after losing his belt to Benson Henderson at UFC 144 and once again falling short in another controversial loss in the rematch at UFC 150 earlier this month, it was recently revealed on "UFC Tonight" that New Jersey native, Frankie "The Answer" Edgar, will in fact, be moving down a weight class from the UFC's Lightweight to the Featherweight division.
Edgar who normally walks around at 155 pounds, the weight of the Lightweight division will be a larger, stronger fighter in comparison to others in the 145 pound Featherweight division. This could possibly give Edgar a distinct advantage over the competition. With his already amazing speed and footwork, the addition of possibly having greater size and or strength over his opponents adds to the arsenal of Frankie's many weapons.
Edgar has said that he wants to make his Featherweight debut in December. It has yet to be announced who Edgar's next opponent will be, or if he will automatically receive a championship fight with the winner of the Jose Aldo vs Erik Koch fight taking place at UFC 153. Edgar says he will let that be decided by the UFC. Although, UFC commissioner Dana White did say at the UFC 150 post-fight press conference that if Edgar was to go to the Featherweight division, he would most likely have to win a fight in the division before being granted a shot at the title.
