If the Pittsburgh Steelers sign Plaxico Burress, it could be a return for the ages for the former Michigan State Spartans standout and Super Bowl hero for the New York Giants. Burress has not played at all this season, but the Steelers are going to bring in the wide receiver who played his first five seasons in Pittsburgh for a physical on Tuesday. If all goes well, the Steelers could sign Burress for the rest of this season.
After sitting out for two full seasons while serving a jail sentence for possession of an illegal firearm that resulted in him shooting himself in the leg in a club, Burress returned in 2011 to have a productive year with the New York Jets. Considering the lack of talent on that team at the skill positions, Burress could be even more valuable to a team such as the Steelers.
