2013 NFL Mock Draft – Bjoern Werner moving up quickly

Let’s preface this again by saying that I think Matt Barkley winds up in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft but I see it coming via trade in the latter portions of round one, ala Brady Quinn. Ouch that comparison hurts. Another name that will be popping up is Aaron Murray. If Murray can take it to the ‘Bama defense and find his way into the National Title game, he will see a major rise in his draft stock, should he decide to declare. Anyways, here’s my latest 2013 NFL Mock Draft, as always feel free to leave comments.
1. Kansas City Chiefs – Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia
There’s not a lot of good in KC right now. Massive and sweeping changes are needed as no one appears safe. It will start with the GM and work it’s way down to all ranks of this coaching staff. April will signal the dawn of a new era of quarterback play in KC as the Chiefs distance themselves from Matt Cassel. Geno Smith hasn’t played as well as of late but is the best option available. I don’t see this pick as a massive reach but with no clear cut No. 1 pick, he makes too much sense for a team in need.
2. Jacksonville Jaguars – Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State
I flip flopped from Bjoern to Damontre and back to Bjoern. Werner is an impressive prospect that will only get better with NFL coaching. Jacksonville creates no pressure on opposing QB’s and I can’t see them sticking with a starting tandem of Jeremy Mincey and Andre Branch. Mincey could be relegated to the bench as they choose to see what they have in Branch. Werner gives them an immediate disruptive force off the edge that everyone is seeking.
