It appears as if the New York Yankees and Andy Pettitte are closing in on a one year contract for the 40-year-old to return to the Bronx for the 2013 MLB season. After deciding that retirement wasn’t quite for him, at least not yet, Pettitte made his return to the Yankees in 2012, but had a leg injury cause him to miss most of the season. he returned for the end of the regular season and pitched well throughout the playoffs.
After that, you had to figure that Pettitte wanted to return in 2013, and the Yankees are more than thrilled to be able to slide him back into their rotation for at least one more season. Pettitte will bring stability to a rotation that came together as last season progressed, and they have already signed Hiroki Kuroda to a one year deal as well.
