While they may have some up short in signing Anibal Sanchez, it appears as if we could see the Chicago Cubs sign Edwin Jackson, as both sides are closing in on a contract that could be for four years worth $52 million. This, according to Buster Olney of ESPN.
Jackson went just 10-11 with a 4.03 ERA with the Washington Nationals in 2012. Jackson was hoping for a long term deal prior to last season, having gone 12-9 in 2011 combined as a member of the Chicago White Sox and World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals. That never happened, so he had to settle on a one year deal worth $11 million for the Nationals.
