MLB Rumors: Arizona Diamondbacks Sign Cody Ross To Three Year Deal

The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed outfielder Cody Ross to a three year deal worth approximately $26 million, according to multiple reports. The deal is also expected to include an option for a fourth year with a $1 million buyout.

The move comes as a bit of a surprise on many fronts.

First, the Diamondbacks were not really expected to be in the hunt for Ross or any other outfielder, having already appeared set with Justin Upton, Jason Kubel and Gerardo Parra. Signing Ross could lead to Arizona trading one of the other outfielders, with Kubel now the most likely candidate to get dealt. Upton now appears safe in the desert, at least to start the 2013 MLB season.
