Knicks: Chances to win Individual Awards

Knicks: Chances to win Individual Awards

The Knicks have gotten off to a hot start this year, and are leaps and bounds ahead of where they were this year. They are 20-7 on the season, and some people on the Knicks have made serious early cases for awards. Here are the odds for Knicks award winners.

Award: Defensive Player of the Year

Candidate: Tyson Chandler

Likelihood: Doubtful

Chandler is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, but that award last year came with controversy. Many people thought that Serge Ibaka or Lebron James deserved the award more than Chandler. In fact, despite being D.P.O.T.Y., he only made the NBA’s 2nd team All-Defense. No disrespect to Chandler, he anchors the Knicks defense, intimidates driving opponents, and the Knicks are much worse defensively when he’s not on the floor. However, Serge Ibaka and Joakim Noah in my opinion are better defensive players with their presence and shot-blocking ability.
