Seven NFL teams fired their head coach on what is known as Black Monday. Several names have emerged as candidates to fill the coaching vacancies, but one of the hottest names rumored to be in line for a coaching position needs to be taken off the market, Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter. Koetter was visited by members of the Kansas City Chiefs on Tuesday and was linked to the coaching vacancy in Philadelphia and Cleveland as well.

Alex Marvez of FoxSports is reporting this morning that Koetter has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Falcons. Koetter helped the improvement of QB Matt Ryan this season and helped to guide the Falcons to the top seed in the NFC this season. Widely regarded as a top offensive mind, Koetter will now remain with the Falcons through the 2014 season.
