Just 48 hours ago, it appeared to be a virtual lock that the Arizona Cardinals would be hiring Andy Reid as the team’s next head coach. Reid now appears headed to Kansas City so the Cardinals must move on from their reported first choice. The Cardinals were granted permission by the Pittsburgh Steelers to speak with offensive coordinator Todd Haley on Thursday.
Haley was a member of the Cardinals coaching staff in 2009 when Arizona made their Super Bowl appearance. He is familiar with the ownership in Arizona and reports suggested that then head coach Ken Whisenhunt was going to add Haley to the coaching staff after being fired in 2011 by the Kansas City Chiefs.
