Long Island Newsday is reporting this morning that the cause of the blackout during Super Bowl XLVII has finally been found. Despite several conflicting reports as to the exact cause of the outage, the power company responsible for providing electricity to the Super dome have revealed what the real factor was. A bad relay.

Newsday reports that officials from Entergy, the electric company, revealed that a faulty relay in the lines coming into the stadium was the cause of the blackout that last over a half an hour. The relay was installed in the switching gear of the electric lines leading into the stadium and were in place in order to protect a failure of the cables supplying the electricity to the stadium.
