Two words that seem to come to mind when talking about the New York Jets are chaos and circus. Both can be used to describe a trade that would send your best player currently packing to another team. Yes, the Jets are thinking about trading Darrelle Revis, their best player.
Currently, the Jets are in salary cap hell. The Jets have 10 starters under contract at the moment, and their 2013 salary adds up to $110 million. So it would make sense to trade the play that has your money tied up, so you can fill out your roster.
Unfortunately, Revis is actually 9th in terms of salary in 2013 out of those 10 bringing in $9 million. Mark Sanchez, Santonio Holmes, Jason Smith, Calvin Pace, Nick Mangold, and even fellow corner Antonio Cromartie make more than Revis despite him being the best player overall. Not to say the aforementioned players won’t be cut or traded as well, but the Jets seem to know that they can get the best value for Revis at this time.
