Chiefs interested in Nick Foles

Chiefs interested in Nick Foles

In less than a week the Philadelphia Eagles have renegotiated the contract of Michael Vick and brought former Duck Dennis Dixon into the fold. The writing is on the wall for Nick Foles in Philadelphia.

Foles looked promising in relief of Vick. In seven contests, Foles threw for nearly 1,700 yards, 6 TD’s to 5 INT’s. That seems like so long ago as Andy Reid was terminated and Chip Kelly was brought in.

Clearly Foles isn’t a fit with Chip Kelly as he lacks any foot speed whatsoever. Foles statuesque presence in the pocket doesn’t bode well for his ability to make the defense defend all 11 on offense, a staple of Kelly offense. When the Eagles opted to restructure Vick’s contract it became more clear that Foles was most likely not the guy for Kelly, despite his insistence that they would battle it out in a full-fledged camp battle.

As I opined on Monday, it makes no sense for the Eagles to keep Foles in Philly as his trade market may never be hotter than it is presently. The most logical fit is with his old coach Andy Reid in Kansas City and we now have word on the street linking the two.
In a USA Today story, they cite a source close the Chiefs that has Andy Reid and the Chiefs interested in acquiring Foles should he become available. NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah added fuel to Foles/Kansas City marriage by reporting that Andy Reid and Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson “were very high on Nick Foles and his future.”
