The 2013 NFL Draft is two days away, and while the NFL does many great things for its community and fans, it needs to take the next step on Thursday night during the first round of this year’s draft. While already announcing that a cancer patient from St. Jude hospital in Minnesota will announce one pick during the NFL Draft, I am taking to social media to get NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to have a Boston Marathon victim or hero announce the New England Patriots 1st round pick on Thursday night. The Patriots possess the No. 29 pick in this year’s draft, and I cannot think of a better moment than to have someone involved in last Monday’s tragic event help begin the healing process by adding perhaps one of the more touching moments in NFL Draft history.
I have taken to Twitter and Facebook to help spread the word. I know that it is short notice and is a complete long shot to take place. But you only fail if you do not try. Help me spread the word. Put this link on Facebook. Put it on Twitter. Get it out any way possible. I have even tweeted Goodell directly. I don’t know if he will read my Tweet, but he may be more inclined to pay more attention if he hears it from more than just me. With that, I need your help.
The NFL does so many great things in giving back for all of what the fans mean for the players and owners and league as a whole. This is what they can do on Thursday. This will help us heal. It is time for the NFL to be Boston Strong.
