There shouldn’t even be a question who the No.1 wide receiver in football is, the simple answer is “Megatron”. Calvin Johnson was the top dog last year setting an NFL record with 1,964 receiving yards. No matter how much coordinators game planned to try to stop him, he would beat double and even triple coverage on a weekly basis. He did everything you could ask for, yet I came away disappointed a little with his performance. Whole five touchdowns may be acceptable for many receivers in the league, it was a letdown for Johnson and fantasy owners. Megatron was tackled six times last season just a yard short of the end zone, but he also had problems holding on to the ball. Johnson had 3 fumbles last season all resulting in turnovers, which killed additional opportunities to continue the drive. Yet the biggest problem Johnson dealt with was poor quarterback play, as Matthew Stafford saw his touchdown total cut in half from 2011. I expect Stafford to bounce back this season and if the touchdowns go up, you can be assured Johnson will see an uptick in home runs. Call me crazy but I think Calvin Johnson will not only match his performance from last season he will surpass it with double digit touchdowns and another 1,800+ yard season.
