Blackhawks general manager, Stan Bowman, announced on Thursday that the team will use their two compliance buyouts. Each team was given two buyouts to use on players over the next two seasons. This was a way for teams to say goodbye to players while saving themselves some money and big cap hits.
The Hawks have decided to say goodbye to defenseman Steve Montador and forward Rostislav Olesz. Both spent last season playing the the team's AHL affiliate, the Rockford Icehogs.
Olesz came to the Hawks in a trade with the Florida Panthers in exchange for Brian Campbell in 2011. He played in only 6 games for the Hawks spending most of the last two seasons in Rockford so the team could avoid his salary counting against the cap.
