BREAKING NEWS: Danny Ainge has officially reached out to the agents of this summer’s biggest free agent to see if Dwight Howard has any interest in signing with the Boston Celtics. The Celtics’ general manager has unloaded the contracts of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to the Brooklyn Nets while working on a rebuilding effort that included releasing Doc Rivers from his contract in exchange for a first round pick from the Los Angeles Clippers. Those moves will give Boston nine first round picks over the next five years, which will aid in helping them shape a new era that will hopefully lead to another NBA championship.
When Ainge said that he had a plan the first time the Celtics went through a rebuilding mode, people doubted him. Then, within a matter of days, he acquired Garnett and Ray Allen and the Celtics won the upcoming NBA championship. He said he has a plan again this time around. He let Rivers go. He traded Garnett and Pierce. Is this all to sign Howard, giving the Celtics a new big man to build around as they usher in a new day and age in Boston?
