The San Francisco 49ers activated RB Kendall Hunter off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list on Saturday. Hunter has fully recovered from a torn left Achilles tendon injury he suffered nearly nine months ago. According to reports from Niners camp, Hunter has looked great while participating in drills.
Hunter will likely assume the role of backup to Frank Gore, the Niners lead running back. With the addition of Hunter back on the roster, San Francisco has one of the deepest backfields in the NFL, something which might help to offset their ailing wide receiving corps.
