It appears that while the New England Patriots may have survived a challenging road test on Sunday night against the Atlanta Falcons, they did not come out unscathed. The Patriots withheld a late comeback to hold on and defeat the Falcons, 30-23, it seems as if they have lost their best player on defense. After suffering a torn Achilles, it appears as if the Patriots will place Vince Wilfork on season ending IR as early as this week.
Wilfork is not only a force to be reckoned with on the field, but is viewed as a team leader in the locker room. His presence will be missed both on and off the field for a team who can ill afford to lose any more players due to injuries. While the Patriots may be 4-0 to start the 2013 NFL season, losing Wilfork will make things that more challenging as New England looks to keep pace atop the AFC East with the Miami Dolphins.
