The Detroit Tigers have demonstrated a propensity to go all-in over the past few seasons. While the talent is still clearly at a high level – much like the payroll – could the Tigers be looking to downsize a bit this offseason? Detroit is certainly not looking to blow up the roster or trade away all of its valuable pieces, but they may be forced to consider dealing the best pitcher from a year ago. Due to the fact that he only has one year remaining on his current contract, and his next deal will likely be in the $200 million range, could the Tigers trade Max Scherzer at the Winter GM Meetings?
While top contenders rarely listen to trade offers involving their best players, this one could be different.
