Little Andrew Shaw just got a big pay day from the Blackhawks. On Tuesday the club decided to extend the forward with a new two-year deal. The deal is reportedly worth an average of $2 million annually.
With the extension the club will avoid Shaw being a restricted free agent this summer. It leaves GM Stan Bowman with little to worry about this upcoming summer. The Hawks now have 15 players locked up through next season.
Brandon Bollig is the most likely to return restricted free agent, while some choices will have to be made with the trio of Jeremy Morin, Brandon Pirri and Ben Smith will be all be restricted free agents. Michal Handuz, Brad Mills, Michael Kostka, Sheldon Brookbank and the struggling Nikolai Khabibulin are all unrestricted as well.
