Could Boston Red Sox Sign Curtis Granderson As Payback After New York Yankees Sign Jacoby Ellsbury?

We all know the history between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. Even with Christmas approaching, these two will never send each other a card or present during the Holiday season. In fact, they go out of their way to take things from the other instead. We have seen in it before, and we are seeing it again in 2013. The New York Yankees signed Jacoby Ellsbury to the third largest contract for an outfielder in MLB history. Personally, I think it is an awful deal for New York, and that Boston was smart to let him walk at that price, considering just how injury-prone he has been throughout his big league career. With that being said, the Red Sox do need a replacement for Ellsbury, especially now that they will be forced to see him in center field for the Yankees approximately 18 times in 2014, although that number is likely to decrease, considering he will be injured at least a few different times throughout the year. While the reigning World Series champs could still pursue Carlos Beltran or Shin-Soo Choo, could we see the Red Sox sign Curtis Granderson and exact some measure of revenge or payback against the Yankees?
