The BCS Bowl Series is upon us, but who’s the best college football team to bet on in the BCS?
Well, we have our picks below.
Rose Bowl: Michigan State vs. Stanford (Jan. 1, 2014)
Beside the BCS title game, we think this is one of the top 2 or 3 matchups in the BCS series. And, for the experts’ picks, here’s a look at who 888sport.com picks to win this and other big games. No. 4 Michigan State is making its first Rose Bowl appearance in a quarter century, while No. 5 Stanford is making its second straight appearance in the “Granddaddy of them all.” This time around, we feel Stanford’s experience in the big game will be the difference. The Cardinal wins by 6.
Fiesta Bowl: Baylor vs. UCF (Jan. 1, 2014)
Who needs Robert Griffin? Baylor is back in the spotlight without the 2011 Heisman winner, leading the nation in scoring under QB Bryce Petty. Expect Petty to lead the Bears to a big win here. Baylor wins by 10.
Sugar Bowl: Alabama vs. Oklahoma (Jan. 2, 2014)
Alabama head coach Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide just want to get back to football again after putting the Texas coaching rumors to rest earlier this month. They go up against an Oklahoma squad that is looking to snap a five-game losing streak in BCS bowl games. But don’t expect that skid to come to an end against Saban and Co. Tide roll big, win by a pair of touchdowns.
Orange Bowl: Ohio State vs. Clemson (Jan. 3, 2014)
Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes were hoping for the BCS title game before falling in their conference championship game. That leaves Ohio State playing for a lesser trophy, but don’t underestimate the fact that Meyer’s teams are nearly unbeatable in the postseason thanks to his unflappable preparation. And with Braxton Miller under center, we take the Buckeyes by 6.
BCS National Championship: Florida State vs. Auburn (Jan. 6, 2014)
This game is a lot tougher to call than we would have thought, with Auburn riding a magical carpet to the title game. We like Florida State because of Heisman QB Jameis Winston, but not by much. Still, we like the QB play to be the difference here, lifting the Seminoles to their first national title since 1999. Florida State wins by 3.
